Our Story

That Was Then...
The first day of 6th grade was such a nerve racking day. I had decided to join Band because I can't sing, and my only other option was Orchestra, so I signed up to play Clarinet in the 6th grade band. Our instructors sat us by instrument and I was in the front row. I remember looking around at all of the new faces, but was caught off guard when a red-head in the back row was staring right back at me. I immediately turned back around, completely flustered. I peeked back at him one more time, and he was still staring at me. That cute little red-head was Mr. Dudley.

We didn't talk much. We were both really shy, especially him. So over the next couple of years, we often said awkward, "Hi"'s and, "How are you?"'s, but not much more than that. It wasn't until our Junior year of high school that things changed. It was the first day of the Winter Semester, and I was one of the firsts to make it into World History. I remember sitting there at my desk, watching everyone that came in to see who I had the class with. Then he walked in. I literally could not take my eyes off of him. By luck, we ended up sitting right next to each other when our teacher made the seating chart. We would make random small talk, but the entire semester had passed and neither of us made a move.

When yearbooks came out, he signed mine with his phone number included. A few days after school let out for the summer, I decided to give him a call, and I worked up enough nerve to ask him out on a date. On June 5, 2004, we had our first date, and on June 8, 2004, we shared our first kiss. We have been pretty much inseparable ever since.

This Is Now...
We have been together more than 5 years now, and are getting married on June 12, 2010. Who would have thought that I would be marrying that cute little red-head from Band class?
